1.Introduction
Sophia is not just a temple of learning but a place to build character of human hearts moulding and shaping thus preparing each Sophia who pass through its portals. Sophia Emblematizes for:-

Sophia Convent School, Kalka is an educational institution administered by the Mission Sisters of Ajmer. It is a Christian Institution, established by the Shimla-Chandigarh Educational Society, Chandigarh in the year 1975. The school is under the religious jurisdiction of the Catholic Bishop of Shimla Chandigarh Diocese. The school aims at an all-round development for students to enable them to be spiritually oriented, morally upright, intellectually well-informed, socially concerned, nationally conscious and appreciative of their culture, emotionally well balanced and physically well developed. School has grown by leaps and bounds from a mere no. of 100 students and 6 teachers on roll. Today it has 1435 students on roll with 48 dedicated and hardworking and reliable staff members.
2. Persons at helm :
“One who cherishes a beautiful dream with lofty ideals one day realizes it.” With this vision Rev. Father Naveen and Sister Mabel worthy Principal are on their mission to touch the new pinnacles of glory and achievements with the support of our dedicated and hardworking staff members.
3. Infrastructure (Substructure) :
Sophia provides exceptionally well maintained infrastructure with airy classrooms, a library, laboratories, knowledge centre and a playground for sports and games. School is under the surveillance of CCTV cameras. Classrooms are equipped with smart boards, audio-visual aids to facilitate teaching.
From October 2012, our school has ventured into e-care to give direct information to parents via SMS about daily happenings in the school.
4. Fun and Frolic :
To establish a close contact with nature and our country’s rich heritage and culture, picnics and educational trips are organised. A visit to various historical monuments, palaces, forts, museums, add not only to their knowledge but also help the students to develop self-reliance and coping skills.
5. Altruistic :
The school has always worked for the welfare of the society; being sensitive towards the needy, less fortunate etc. “Thousand candles can be lighted from a single candle; their life will never be shortened.” Happiness never decreases by being shared.
Sophians are trained to by world citizens by participating in noble deeds and time to time materials and financial aids is extended to missionaries of charity and other organisations like Help-age India, Global Cancer Concern India and Destitute India.

We express our profound gratitude to the Almighty whose providential care sustains this Institution. While thanking him for the love and care He has bestowed upon the Management, Staff and Students.
